The marriage of Martin and Katharina is in crisis due to their son's developmental disorder and Martin's burnout. When new neighbors—a young couple—move in, everything seems to be taking a turn for the better. But then Martin accidentally discovers a terrible secret, and the nightmare begins.

In this documentary three people talk about their experiences on the threshold of death and the after-effects on their lives. Seemingly in opposition to that scientific considerations try to explain the phenomenon of near-death experiences, which has had a place in every culture and religion.
